Crews still searching for missing body boarder off Kaimu Beach

KAIMU BEACH, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - Rescue crews on the Big Island continue to look for missing body boarder.

Firefighters responded to a male body boarder in distress at Kaimu Beach Monday afternoon.

Witnesses said they saw a man's body go under in big waves, and he hasn't been seen since.

The man has been identified as 33-year-old Pahoa resident Paul Jason Currier.

Helicopters and rescue boats were called off Monday night when it got dark.

Crews continued their search Wednesday at daylight.

A boat and divers are on the scene, along with ground crews searching as well.
