Campaign spending report released

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The new mayor proves the candidate with the most money.. doesn't always win.

The latest campaign spending report shows Peter Carlisle raised less than half of what Kirk Caldwell raised before the September 18th primary.

Caldwell, who also had most of the union endorsements, brought in nearly $400,000 in the final two weeks and still lost.

In the primary match-up for governor, Neil Abercrombie raised more than $3 million.

Mufi Hanneman ended up with nearly $3.5 million, and by the way, still has about $800,00 left for a future campaign.

And Republican Duke Aiona raised about $2.9 million.
