KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Early Friday morning, Coast Guard crews rescued three people just one mile south of Nawiliwili Harbor.
At about 2:30 a.m., Coast Guard officials received a distress call via channel 16 from the captain of a 25-foot pleasure craft.
Station Kauai rescue crews responded to the call, and arrived on scene just after 3:30 a.m.
Two people were rescued from the water after the vessel they were aboard capsized.
The third person had jumped overboard and attempted to swim to shore. That person was found on the break wall and rescued.
No injuries were reported.
Coast Guard officials want to remind the public that in an event of a vessel capsize, to stay with the craft and always wear a life jacket.
