Hawaii's top political candidates to talk about health care

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Friday afternoon, some of Hawaii's top political candidates will talk about one of the most important issues facing America...health care.

They'll discuss several topics including how the new health care act will affect Hawaii.

Democratic candidate for governor Neil Abercrombie and his running mate Brian Schatz will be there, along with fellow Democrat Colleen Hanabusa who is running for Congress.

The Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, Lynn Finnegan, is also set to appear.

Health care is a critical election issue and will be a challenge that Hawaii's future leaders will have to face.

In addition to talking about the new health care act, candidates will review the difficulties in funding Medicaid and how to address shortages in the health care work force.

The forum is being hosted by the Hawaii Primary Care Association, and is a part of its two-day annual conference.

We'll have the latest on this story tonight on Hawaii News Now.
