KONA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man in connection with a stabbing in south Kona is now in police custody.
Just before 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Kona patrol officers responded to the stabbing along Mamalahoa Highway in Hookena. That's where a 34-year-old Honaunau man reported that he had been arguing with another male when the man stabbed him.
Fire rescue crews transported the victim to Kona Community Hospital where he sustained cuts to his chest and arms. The victim was treated and then released.
Just after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, police arrested 51-year-old Mark Knittle on suspicion of second-degree assault.
Knittle is being held at the Kona police cellblock and bail is set at $2 thousand. Detectives are still investigating.
