HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kalani High School is one of 50 schools that will receive a free paint makeover as part of Ace Hardware's Helpful Hands Program. Home expert Lou Manfredini joined Dan and Grace Tuesday morning to make the announcement:

A new coat of paint can mean many things, but at a school it can be the difference between inspiration and apathy. An engaging learning environment can stir creativity, motivate learning and invigorate everyone who steps foot on campus. Such physical improvements sometimes fall by the wayside, but with a helpful hand from the Helpful Hands Program, 50 high school campuses across America are getting the fresh start they need.

Helpful Hands will be providing paint makeovers to one deserving high school in each of the fifty states. From Alaska to Texas, high school students and community members around the country will soon discover that a new coat of paint does more than add color to the wall - it marks a new beginning, boosts spirits and establishes pride where it is needed the most.

If you'd like to volunteer to help with the painting project, contact a local Ace Hardware store.
