Good Things: October 4, 2010

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

Britain held its Third Annual Brompton Folding Bike World Championships over the weekend. The rainy weather couldn't keep the 750 competitors from 34 countries from taking part in the 8 mile race. In a very British take on the event, organizers banned the use of spandex or any other sporting attire. Instead competitors were encouraged to dress smartly, wearing a blazer or suit jacket with shirt and tie.

It was raining pumpkins in Vermont over the weekend. The annual Pumpkin Chukin' Festival was held in Cambridge. Contestants used everything from medieval style catapults to high-powered cannons to propel their pumpkins through the air. The farthest flight was 4,800 feet set by the American Chunker Crew, which used pressurized air to launch their pumpkins.

How would you like to go Over the Edge of Waikiki. Grace Lee did it last year in an extreme fundraiser for Special Olympics Hawaii. Each participant must raise at least $1,000 to rappel 31 stories off the Sheraton Waikiki. But we're giving away 3 spots for free! Just tell us why you deserve to go Over the Edge. Email with your response.
