HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Developer Andy Anderson wants to build an 80-unit hotel resort where Jameson's is, and on adjacent land the city bought to expand Alli Beach Park. Eight different environmental and civic groups plan to be at tonight's hearing to oppose it. The hearing is 7 p.m. at Alli Beach Park, Haleiwa surf center. Opponents say they fear that some city officials, soon to leave in regime change, want to push the deal through before Peter Carlisle becomes mayor.

President Obama has signed the Small Business Jobs Act. It sets up a $30 billion fund that small banks can tap to make business loans. First Hawaiian and Bankoh are too big to qualify but every other local bank does.

The APEC 2011 Hawaii Host Committee today is issuing two requests for proposals. One is for marketing and the other is for website development. The RFP is detailed in an ad in the Star-Advertiser, and you can get applications in person from the Tourism Authority office at the Convenience Center or from the East-West center.

The Hawaii International Film Festival begins ticket sales for ohana members on Thursday. General admission tickets don't go on sale until Monday. The actual festival begins October 14th and will feature more than 200 films from more than 40 countries.
