HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - In a return to a three-judge format, American Idol has named Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson its judges for Season 10. Changes on the show: The show is holding its first-ever online auditions via MySpace, competitors as young as 15 will be allowed to compete, and Nigel Lythgoe has returned as an executive producer.
Will J.Lo Be the New Simon Cowell? Producer Nigel Lythgoe says no: "It isn't about role playing. It's about being yourself. That was Simon's character and [the new judges] are going to stay true to their characters." Jennifer said she believes "in tough love. I think the days are gone of kicking someone in the testicles. I don't want to see that."
Comedian Stephen Colbert is scheduled to testify at a House immigration hearing. A House Judiciary Committee spokeswoman said the subcommittee hearing — titled "Protecting America's Harvest" — was a "serious issue ... this is not a TV stunt." Colbert will be in Washington because this summer he accepted the United Farm Workers' challenge to "Take Our Jobs," which offers Americans the chance to work in the fields doing the jobs often done by illegal immigrants.
