Mayor Elect Makes First Hire. Peter Carlisle said during the Hawaii News Now Mayoral Debate that he would save money by cutting the Managing Director Office. But it appears that was just a jab at his opponent Kirk Caldwell. Today, Carlisle tapped Doug Chin to be the new Managing Director. Chin was Carlisle's First Deputy and has been the Acting City Prosecutor since Carlisle stepped down to run for Mayor. Hear from Doug Chin tonight at 5.
Murder Suspect Arrested. Honolulu police have arrested Aysa Delos Santos in connection with the death of 35-year old Christopher Myers.
Myers' body was found early Sunday morning near the Keeaumoku street Walgreens. The case was first classified as an unattended death, but police later reclassified it as second-degree murder.
Sewage Spill. Warning signs are posted at Palolo stream due to a wastewater spill. A grease blockage caused an estimated two-thousand gallons of sewage to flush out. Half entered the stream. The rest overflowed onto a vacant lot at Kaau street near 9th Avenue.
Honolulu One of Best Communities to Raise Kids. The group "America's Promise Alliance" put Honolulu on the list for strong after-school programs, opportunities for service leadership and safe places for kids to play. Honolulu was the only Hawaii community on the top 100 list. It's the third time the city has received the honor.
Show Goes on for Bruno Mars Despite Drug Arrest. The Roosevelt High Chart Topper will be a musical guest on Saturday Night Live. The news comes just days after he was arrested in Las Vegas. Police say the singer had 2.6 grams of cocaine in his possession.
