HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - the Honolulu City Council approved a resolution to help homeowners whose property tax bills soared when their properties were reclassified from residential to commercial/industrial use.

"I'm not interested in finger pointing. I'm interested in expediting relief," councilman Nestor Garcia said.

The measure would let the owners get tax refunds or credits for amounts they paid on the higher taxes.

"They should get this money. We should find ways to get them reimbursed," councilman Romy Cachola said.
