HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Oahu-born singing star Bruno Mars will be the musical guest on an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live. Mars will appear on the October 9 episode of the long-running NBC late night show. Jane Lynch, who plays cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester on Fox's Glee, will be the host of the show.

Mars was in the headlines earlier this week after being arrested by Las Vegas police in a restroom at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino early Sunday. Police there say that Mars was in possession of 2.6 grams of cocaine. He could face possible felony charges.

Mars "Just the Way You Are" is currently Number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He sang the hooks on B.o.B's "Nothin' on You" and Travie McCoy's "Billionaire", which were both chart-topping hits. The Roosevelt High graduate's debut album "Doo-Wops & Hooligans," is scheduled for release October 5.
