Voter turnout: roughly 43 percent cast their vote

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Even with so much at stake in the primary, less than half of the voters showed up.

Out of the more than 684,000 registered voters in the state, nearly 293,000 people, or roughly 43 percent cast their ballot.

The majority, about 162,000 people still preferred voting at the polls.

While nearly 42 percent voted absentee.
