BOE voted to keep Molokai schools separate

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - After nearly two years of back and forth, there's now a decision on whether to consolidate two schools on Molokai.

The Board of Education decided against the consolidation at a meeting Friday night on Maui.

Back in 2008, the Department of Education initiated a study to see if Maunaloa and Kaunakakai Elementary schools should become one.

In May, a task force unanimously recommended that the schools remain separate.

Friday night, the Board of Education agreed.
