HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Entertainment outlets overwhelmingly call it 'must see TV', and local fans seem to agree. Some estimate 10 thousand people turned out in Waikiki at last night's 'Sunset on the Beach' series premiere of Hawaii Five-0. It's the biggest turn-out ever at that venue.

The Hollywood hype has definitely hit Hawaii, and the premiere made a splash across the internet and on national TV. Media outlets from all over the world covered the red carpet roll-out.

T-V show Entertainment Tonight featured it during its Tuesday broadcast, reporting, "The Hawaii Five-0 cast parties in - big surprise - Honolulu!" Scott Caan, who plays detective Danny 'Danno' Williams, told ET, "It's like home - with prettier beaches and nicer sunsets". Caan is the son of legendary actor, James Caan, and grew up in Los Angeles.

After the premiere, E News On-line wrote Hawaii Five-0 is not only the most buzzed about new show for the fall season, but it's also the one to watch.

And fans still can't get enough of the Five-0 premiere. Some waited from dawn 'til dusk to catch a glimpse of the cast. Daniel Dae Kim plays Chin Ho Kelly. "It's so great to see so many fans here. It's a beautiful night here in Hawaii. I hope they like what they see."

Hawaii Kai resident Dianne Ward loved it. She says she got several autographs from the stars, as she waited along the red carpet. She predicts it will be a monster hit. "It's going to be awesome. It going to go on for many, many, many years".

Several of the show's stars couldn't believe how many people came out. "I mean, you don't think about red carpets and huge crowds in Hawaii," says Alex O'Loughlin, who plays Steve McGarrett. "I'm seeing all this and sunsets and the ocean. It's amazing!"

On the CBS Early Show, the morning anchors commented about the event. "They do this premiere last night in Waikiki, explains weatherman, Dave Price. "And 10 thousand people show up!"

The crowd didn't seem to min that the cast arrived fashionably late. It was due to, well, fashion. Grace Park laments, "A few minutes before we wrapped production, Daniel said he's wearing jeans, and everybody's like, "You're wearing jeans?" And Scott said, "Well, I'm going to wear jeans" and we were all - we didn't know what we were doing until a few minutes ago!

Governor Linda Lingle has proclaimed September Hawaii Five-0 month, and the picture perfect postcard premiere could' be bad for business or tourism.

"It was so gorgeous to see this video and if you love seeing it, and you can't get there, this is one of those shows that let's you see the fantasy, live the fantasy, " says Price, the weatherman.

Stars from the original show turned up for the event, as did CBS network executives - who hope lightning strikes twice on the set of Five-0.
