HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Chelsea Handler defended her MTV VMA hosting gig on Twitter Monday after celeb blogger Perez Hilton slammed her for "sucking." Perez tweeted that her performance bombed, so Handler tweeted back that his life "is a bomb".

The VMAs didn't bomb was a hit. 11.4 million tuned in -- the largest audience for any MTV show in eight years.

Lady Gaga has angered animal rights activists after posing in meat-style clothes for the second time in a week. First time was earlier this month when she posed in a bikini made from slabs of beef for the cover of a Japanese magazine. Then the MTV VMA's on Sunday night, repeating the stunt in a dress apparently fashioned from strips of red meat -- and with a steak balanced on her head. Animal rights workers have blasted Gaga yet again, but the Gaga said the controversial "meat" dress was intended to make a statement: "If we don't stand up for what we believe in and if we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones. And I am not a piece of meat."
