LAS VEGAS, NV (HawaiiNewsNow) - More good news for the Warrior football team, who picked up its first win of the season this weekend.
Quarterback Bryant Moniz was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
The junior signal caller led Hawaii to the 31-28 win over Army on Saturday. He completed 25 of 36 passes for 343 yards and three TD's.
Moniz also drove the Warriors into field goal range with seven seconds left. It set up Scott Enos' winning kick.
"Just excited, really just to get the win is important, it's important for our team to come out 1-1, instead of 0-2, but it's always a bonus to get an award, it's a great team award really and as an offensive unit it's really good for us," Moniz said.
On the year, Moniz has passed for 612 yards and four touchdowns. His efficiency rating is 149.5.
The Leilehua grad ranks 12th nationally in total offense, averaging 316 yards per game. This award is Moniz's first of his career.
