OSHA opens new Honolulu office

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced Monday the opening of a new office in Honolulu. The agency, which oversees workplace safety said that the office will expand the presence of the agency and provide strengthened enforcement in the islands.

"With the new area office in Honolulu, we will improve service to workers and employers in Hawaii and enhance our coordination and oversight with the state plan. This presence ultimately will ensure that workers are better protected " said Ken Nishiyama Atha, OSHA's regional administrator in San Francisco.

OSHA also announced that Galen Lemke, a 15-year veteran of the agency, will head up the Honolulu office.  Before being named area director, Lemke was the audit and analysis team leader in the Chicago Regional Office.

The new office is located at 300 Ala Moana Boulevard. This month OSHA also opened up new offices in Las Vegas, San Diego, Oakland and Phoenix.
