HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office has identified the motorcyclist killed in a crash in Kahala Sunday as John A. Roberts, 41, of Kahuku. An autopsy on Monday found that he died from multiple traumatic injuries.

Police say Roberts was riding a 2002 Suzuki motorcycle at about 1 AM, when he struck a curb after failing to negotiate a bend in the private roadway near the Waialae Country Club. He slammed his head on a stone wall and died at the scene.

Investigators say that section of the roadway had no lighting and was dark at the time of the crash. They're still trying to determine if alcohol or drugs was involved.

This was the 40th traffic fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 41 at the same time last year.
