Waipio Little League team will get donations of at least $65,000

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Waipio Little League Team has gotten some financial relief from a certain local fund designed to help offset the financial burden on families.

The team was on the road for nearly a month for the championship tournament leaving families in debt, upwards of $10,000.

First Hawaiian Bank's Vice Chairman, Raymond Ono, said Thursday that FHB's "Yes We Care" fund has raised at least $65,000 so far, which shows the Aloha Spirit of the islands.

One hundred percent of the Fund's proceeds will go directly to the team and their families.

All First Hawaiian Bank branches will continue to collect donations to offset traveling costs until September 17th.

First Hawaiian Bank will present a check to the Little League team during halftime at the University of Hawaii football game against Charleston Southern on Saturday, September 25th.
