HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - $39 million dollars of federal money is coming to Hawaii to help pay for education jobs. The money comes from the $10 billion education fund which is distributed to states based on population size.

"There is a huge sense of urgency to get these funds out the door. I commend Hawaii for being one of the first to submit their application and thank our team at the Department for making funds available within a matter of days" said Arne Duncan, US Secretary of Education.

Over the last two years, 300,000 education jobs nationwide have been supported through stimulus funding provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
