HONOLULU (AP) - Dozens of Honolulu residents are attending a job fair hosted by US Representative Charles Djou. The event, located at the Dole Ballroom on Iwilei Road in Honolulu, ends Thursday at 4:00 PM. About 50 employers are participating in the job fair, similar to ones that other members of Congress from around the nation have sponsored.
Some job seekers say they are grateful Djou is hosting the event. He is seeking the Republican nomination for Hawaii's 1st Congressional District in the September 18 primary. If he wins, he will face the Democratic nominee in November.
Djou says the job fair may benefit his campaign. But he says he too is seeking employment - only the job is as a congressman in Washington.
