CLEVELAND (AP) - The Browns have waived linebacker David Veikune, a disappointing second-round draft pick last year. Veikune was taken with the No. 52 overall pick in 2009 by the Browns, who tried to convert the former Hawaii defensive end into an outside linebacker in their 3-4 system. But he never adjusted, showed little progress during the exhibition season, and was let go Tuesday as the Browns released one of the 12 linebackers still on their roster.
They also claimed offensive lineman Steve Vallos off waivers from Seattle and signed defensive Derrick Roberson. Vallos played in all 16 games the past two seasons with the Seahawks, where he was with Browns president Mike Holmgren. Vallos can play center or guard.
