LIHUE, Kauai (HawaiiNewsNow) - A California family is pleading for the public's help in locating a loved one who vanished while on vacation on Kauai. Nola Rebecca Thompson was supposed to leave the Garden Island last Friday, but there's been no sign of her.

Family and friends call her "Becky," and are frantically searching for her. At this point, Kauai police say they don't suspect foul play.

A worried Pearl Thompson stood next to Kauai's chief of police with a simple message.

"I'm Becky Thompson's mom. I'm pleading for the public to help us find her," she said.

Nola Rebecca Thompson, 45, of California arrived on the Garden Isle August 28th, reportedly to celebrate her birthday after splitting from her fiance. It was a trip the couple had planned prior to the breakup. Thompson decided to take the vacation anyway.

"She's a very outgoing girl," her mother said. "The photos that were posted doesn't give her justice. She's lost quite a bit of weight. She has striking blue eyes, a beautiful smile."

Thompson is 5'3" tall and weighs about 160 lbs. She has shoulder-length blonde hair and a fair complexion.

"At this point, the Kauai Police Department is canvassing the entire island," Chief Darryl Perry, Kauai Police Department, said. "We have officers and detectives out on the streets looking at every possible avenue."

Police say Thompson may be in a silver Chrysler convertible. The license plate on the rental car is KZF 570.

"We're very worried about her," Perry said. "We want to make sure that she's okay."

Family members say Thompson is diabetic and has high blood pressure. They say she's the kind of person who helps anyone in need.

"We're just begging for anybody to just call in to let us know what has happened to our daughter," Pearl Thompson said.

Family members are putting together a reward for information that leads to the missing woman. If you have information about this case, call Kauai police at 241-1711.
