HONOLULU (AP) - The nomination of state Supreme Court Justice Mark Recktenwald to be that court's chief justice is to be decided this week.
The state Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on Gov. Linda Lingle's selection at a 10 AM meeting on Wednesday. The full Senate is set to vote on the nomination the next day.
The 54-year-old Recktenwald has received mostly glowing reports from the Hawaii Bar Association, prosecutors, defense attorneys and others who testified before a judiciary committee hearing last week.
He was Lingle's second choice. The Senate defeated her first nominee, state appeals court Judge Katherine Leonard.
