SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, PA (HawaiiNewsNow) –Waipio's Little League World Series journey came to an end Sunday as Japan won 4-1 in the title game.
Japan struck first in the top of the second when a wild pitch scored a runner from third. An RBI single in the fourth put Japan ahead 2-0.
Hawaii's only scoring came in the bottom of the fourth, Noah Shackles singled. An error on a Heleski sacrifice bunt scored Shackles from third.
Japan sealed the deal when Konan Tomori hit a powerful two-run homer to right with two out in the top of the sixth.
Hawaii played five days in a row, each time facing elimination. Hawaii was the first team ever to play seven games in the Little League World Series.
