KUKIO, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Coast Guard is searching for a missing swimmer off the Big Island. They first got the call of a swimmer in distress Thursday afternoon, off Kakapa Bay in North Kona.
Friday morning the Coast Guard dispatched a C-130 from Barbers Point to aid in the search. The cutter Ahi sailed to the area Friday and along was searching an area northwest of the are where the swimmer was last seen.
On Thursday evening, an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was dispatched from Oahu and arrived at 7:40 PM. It joined a helicopter, rescue boat, and shoreline crews from the Hawaii County Fire Department.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Coast Guard.
