15 hurt after plane's tires catch fire on landing at Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA (AP) - At least five people have been taken to a hospital after the tires of a JetBlue airplane caught fire Thursday during a hard landing in Sacramento. Fifteen people in total were left with minor injuries after the hard landing. Passenger Michelle McDuffie says people onboard felt a thud, but didn't realize there was an emergency until the crew shouted for everyone to exit on inflatable slides.

The airline says the plane appeared to experience trouble with its brakes. Sacramento fire officials say everyone was able to get down the slides and walk over to their triage. The 87 passengers on the flight from Long Beach were taken to the terminal by buses.
