HONOLULU (AP) - The mayors of Kauai and the Big Island are endorsing former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann's bid for the Democratic nomination for governor. Big Island Mayor Billy Kenoi and Kauai Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. made the announcement alongside Hannemann on Wednesday at Honolulu Hale.
Kenoi says Hannemann has been instrumental in bringing the mayors together as a team to focus on issues that affect counties and the state. Carvalho says the relationships he, Kenoi, Hannemann and their staffs have developed are critical to the state's success over the next four years.
Hannemann is vying for the nomination against former US Representative Neil Abercrombie.
