Alaska plane crash update: emergency beacon separate from plane

ALASKA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Federal investigators say the plane carrying former U.S. Senator Ted Stevens had its emergency beacon separate from the aircraft when it crashed earlier this month.

Authorities said that no transmitter signal was detected during an aerial search.

But the medical examiner said it's unlikely a quicker response would have mattered.
