HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Federal credits for buying a home spurred home sales earlier, but now they've expired, and home sales activity has fallen back to almost a third less than what we had a year ago. This shows the stimulus was working, but it also shows the real market for new homes is even worse than economists thought. Hawaii was better off than the national number...the worst-hit region was the midwest.
Visitor update! Domestic arrivals over the weekend failed to crack 40,000 for the first time since early June. But arrivals remain better than last year, with slightly higher room rates, let's not forget.

When United and Continental merge, their paint schemes will merge. As you saw on Sunrise, the new airline will keep the United name but will adopt the Continental globe design on the tail. That seems fair, but a group of United fliers with too much time on their hands has formed a group called Save the Tulip, referring to the logo United jets currently use.
