Pacific Islanders suing state over health plan

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A group of Pacific island migrants filed a federal lawsuit to stop the state's new free health plan. They say the plan, called Basic Health Hawaii cut benefits for migrants from Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and Palau.

The rules went into effect July 1. The plan provides fewer benefits than Medicaid programs, saving the state about eight million dollars.
