Maui fire crews watching hot spots after blaze

KIHEI, Hawaii (AP) - Maui firefighters have been keeping an eye on hot spots after a brush fire scorched about 4 acres near Mokulele Highway.

A Maui fire official says the fire was first reported about 2 p.m. Friday on vacant land.

Fire crews had the blaze extinguished about 11 a.m. Saturday, but continued to monitor hot spots because of the dry weather.

Firefighters from Kahului, Wailuku and Kihei were all called in to battle the blaze. No injuries or damage to structures were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation
