Salt Lake businesses burglarized

SALT LAKE (HawaiiNewsNow) - Tenants at Stadium Mall arrived Saturday morning to find they'd been hit by burglars overnight.  The thieves broke in by prying open back doors to the shops.

They stole a safe and its contents from the Tropic Rush frozen yogurt store.  They got into Moanalua Pets and made a mess, but fortunately didn't take anything or harm any of the animals.

The crooks also tried to pound their way into a beauty salon, but were unsuccessful.

David Dip of Judy's Nail & Beauty Salon said, "They broke into the other side door, the one next to our door.  Go into the shop.  Halfway in and they make a big hole in the wall.  The wall.  They tried to get to our side, but then somehow they missed."

The burglars avoided being seen by security cameras by cutting through a fence that's out of the camera's field of view.

It's the second time the mall has been targeted in the past few years.

The case is under investigation.
