Police looking for driver in H-1 Freeway hit & run case

PEARL CITY (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police are looking for a hit-and-run driver.  Early Saturday morning, a motor vehicle crash involving three cars happened around 3:00 a.m.

It occurred near the Waiawa overpass just Diamond Head side of the H-1 Freeway.

The first car cut off the second car and got rear ended, before pulling onto the shoulder.  A short while later, the first car drove back on the road, possibly to check on the second car, according to police.

When the first car, driven by a 61-year old Mililani man, pulled back on the road, he was hit by a third car which is unidentified at this point.

The second driver fled on foot.  Within two hours, police had tracked down a 26-year old at his home and arrested him.  Investigators say he was drunk.

It appears that no drugs were involved at this point.

The third driver who hit the older man sped away.  If you have any leads, call the Honolulu Police Department.
