HONOLULU (AP) - Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle is asking residents to help her decide on temporary replacements for two state senators who resigned to run for lieutenant governor.
Lingle said Wednesday she's seeking public comment on successors to former Senators. Robert Bunda, D-Kaena-Wahiawa-Pupukea, and Gary Hooser, D-Kauai-Niihau.
The Democratic Party of Hawaii submitted to the Republican governor names of three candidates to replace each of the candidates.
Candidates to replace Bunda are Laura Figueira, John Kampfer and Lei Learmont.
Candidates to replace Hooser are Ronald Kouchi, Barbara Robeson and Sandra Wright.
The replacement candidates would serve until the vacant seats are filled following the November 2 general election.
