HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A salmonella outbreak has prompted a massive egg recall, but Safeway stores in Hawaii say they do not have shipments of the eggs in question. 380 million eggs are being pulled from stores across the US.
Already, some 300 cases of the illness have been reported. Federal health officials traced the tainted eggs back to a farm in Iowa that ships them nationwide under several names including Lucerne, which is sold at Safeway.
Safeway stores in Hawaii say none of their shipments are part of the recall. But they say, if you're still nervous about it, bring your eggs back.
