ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye is speaking at the funeral of his friend U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens, who was killed in a plane crash.
Inouye, a Hawaii Democrat, was close to the Alaska Republican and called him his brother and best friend in the Senate.
While far apart on many policy issues, Inouye helped get Stevens re-elected and worked with him to protect the interests of Hawaii and Alaska from Washington.
The 86-year-old Stevens died along with four others last week when their plane crashed en route from a corporate-owned lodge to a fishing camp. Four people survived.
Besides Inouye, Vice President Joe Biden also will speak, and former Alaska governors including Sarah Palin will attend.
