Good Things: August 17, 2010

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

Senior residents at Hi'olani Care Center in Kahala participated in a week-long array of activities to celebrate the life of Elvis Presley. Residents visited the Elvis statue at the Blaisdell, watched the Aloha from Hawaii Concert video and then some of the countless movies featuring the sequined rock star. The week concluded with a finale event complete with Rob Short, a lively Elvis Presley tribute artist.

Baseball fans across the nation are being treated to an inspiring performance.. not by the players.. but by the man throwing out the first pitch. Tom Willis was born without arms, but that has never slowed him down. As part of his "Pitch for Awareness" tour, Tom plans to take his message about people with disabilities around the country. This weekend, he was at the Cincinnati Reds and Florida Marlins game.

And if you're looking for the best burger in the country, we have the answer. The Zagat Survey says the best burgers are at Five Guys, a Virginia-based chain with about 500 outlets. The good news, as Howard Dicus has reported, is they are soon coming to Hawaii. To wash it all down, Dairy Queen's milkshake is being called the best in the land. But if you want fries with that.. stop by the Golden Arches, as McDonald's took number one out of the all the fast food chains.
