HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - On Oahu an internet sexual predator was sentenced Monday to 10 years behind bars. 25-year-old Thomas Brown was convicted for soliciting an undercover officer he believed was a 14-year-old girl.

It's now up to the Hawaii paroling authority to decide when or if Brown will be eligible for parole. Prosecutors say Brown should serve all ten years because he admitted to having sex with an actual underage girl he met online.

"Mr. Brown, in his own pre-sentence investigation report, admits that he actually met online a real 14-year-old girl and had sexual relations with her prior to this case" said Deputy Attorney General Albert Cook.

"I just would like to say I'm truly sorry for what I've done and I've learned my lesson from all this" said Brown.

The state recently passed a law making ten years the mandatory sentence for electronic enticement of a minor.
