MANOA (HawaiiNewsNow) - With four of five starters gone from a year ago, the Warrior Football team's offensive line is looking for new leadership.
That could come from more than 10 new faces in the mix, battling for a spot. The only returning starter is Austin Hansen at left tackle.
However, the Warriors feature four players with starting experience, including senior Laupepa Letuli, who could step in and make a difference right away.
He comes back after sitting out most of last year due to a leg injury. This is the right tackle's sixth year and he's hoping the young guys follow his lead.
"I think we're very passionate, but we need to find our niche still, so I think right now in this camp, we have to find that and still understand what we need to do," Letuli said.
The man they're protecting said they've improved with each and every practice.
"They've progressed a lot until now, especially with our counts, I think day one they probably jumped offsides 12 times, 15 times and now it's only one at the most, twice a day," Quarterback Bryant Moniz said.
Just 20 days away from the Warriors' season opener against USC on September 2. Kick-off is slated for 5 p.m. and it'll be nationally televised on ESPN.
