Good Things: August 13, 2010

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

This Saturday, Windward Mall will be packed as the Windward District Public Schools presents the "Recycle or New" School Fair. Public schools from Waimanalo to Sunset Beach will each have a unique school display to share with the community.. showing off cool facts about their school. The public also has a chance to donate educational supplies or even recycled school supplies.. like gently used backpacks or folders. The event is from 10:00am to 2:00pm and features live music and dance performances.

Another "Good Things" to do this Saturday is to head down to Ala Moana and join the volunteers from Barefoot Wines and Surfrider Foundation in cleaning up Ala Moana Beach Park. It starts at 10:00am. Last year volunteers picked up more than 300 pounds of trash in their quest to make Magic Island "Barefoot Friendly."

Pokeman players have just a few hours left to sign up for the last chance to compete for the World Championship Title. Starting at 9:00am at the Hilton Waikoloa Village, players have a chance to battle it out for the last and final spot at the 2010 Pokemon World Championships. The Championship match will be held this weekend and will feature players from around the world.
