HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Trial has been set for October for a Wahiawa landlord accused of assaulting a tenant because she wanted to move out.

Ahmad Shafi, 44, pleaded not guilty to felony assault and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle at his arraignment at Honolulu Circuit Court Thursday. He's free after posting $20,000 bail.

A 24-year-old woman told investigators she was in her car in the parking lot of her apartment complex last week Tuesday, when her landlord assaulted her. Police say the woman suffered minor injuries.

A judge granted the prosecution's request for a no-contact order, meaning the defendant is prohibited from approaching or communicating with his accuser.
