HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An Oahu man accused of attacking the paramedic who was treating him last week pleaded not guilty to felony assault Thursday.
John Mathis, 40, remains in custody unable to post $25,000 bail. He was arraigned via video hookup from the Oahu Community Correctional Center.
Police say Mathis became combative while being transported to a hospital in a city ambulance and punched a 29-year-old female paramedic in the chest three times.
Trial is tentatively set for October.
