HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaiian Electric Company is advising the public Wednesday to be on the lookout for an email that advertises a fictitious job opportunity. The email asks the recipient to apply for an accounting position at the utility and asks for personal information.
"These e-mails are not associated with Hawaiian Electric in any way. We have reported it to the proper authorities and urge our customers to delete the message if they receive it," said Lynne Unemori, Hawaiian Electric Vice President of Corporate Relations.
The mails are sourced from multiple email addresses and were sent to internet users in Hawaii and other states. Officials say to ignore the message and that all legitimate job postings are available on the company's website.
