HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Former Hawaii News Now sports director Liz Chun has been named director of Philanthropy at Pali Momi Medical Center, the hospital announced Tuesday.

"My years of experience as a caregiver for my dad inspired me to seek an opportunity to get involved in health care and help others make a difference in the lives of patients and their families," said Chun.  "When I learned about this position and how I could help, I knew it was the right place for me."

Chun left her television job in January to provide care for her father, who was battling terminal cancer. She will continue to host the Coach Mack Show on KGMB this season, as she has for the past four years. Chun was Hawaii's first and only female TV sports director, and is a two-time Emmy Award winner.

In her new role at Pali Momi Medical Center, formerly known as Kapiolani Medical Center at Pali Momi, Chun will be responsible for raising funds for the hospital.
