HONOLULU (AP) - Honolulu businessman and eBay founder Pierre Omidyar's name is on the list of 40 billionaires pledging to donate at least half their wealth to charity.
Pierre and Pam Omidyar are the only Hawaii residents on the list of people who have signed the promise.
The list was released by Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates and investor Warren Buffett.
Omidyar was traveling Wednesday and couldn't be reached for comment.
His spokeswoman, Sarah Steven, says Omidyar had already decided years ago that he would give away the vast majority of his wealth.
Forbes' list of the richest Americans estimated Omidyar's net worth at $3.6 billion in 2009.
Omidyar has recently backed a website called 3DHawaii.com, and he launched an online news site called Honolulu Civil Beat.
