HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

Hawaii ukulele great Jake Shimabukuro will be in Waikiki to celebrate Ukulele Day. Jake will take the DFS Galleria stage at 7:00pm to perform songs from his upcoming new album. There will also be ukulele workshops for keiki and adults. Jake's charity organization, "Music is Good Medicine" is putting on this free event.

Incoming freshmen at Roosevelt High School are enrolled in a unique mentoring program to ensure their transition goes smoothly. The program, called "Ignition" helps the freshmen meet new friends and deal with new "teenage" challenges. Roosevelt counselors hope the program will increase school attendance, graduation rates and encourage students to go to college.
