Jacksonville, FL (HawaiiNewsNow) - Red-eyed and exhausted, Tyson Alualu arrived in Jacksonville just 24-hours after finalizing his first NFL contract with the Jaguars. The 10th overall selection in the NFL draft, Alualu missed Jacksonville's morning practice session Tuesday but suited up for the evening practice.
Alualu said he's just anxious to prove he was worthy of being a high first round selection (10th overall). "The pressure on me being the 10th pick, I got a lot to do to meet those expectations. All i can do is give it my best and that's what i plan to do", said Alualu.
After missing the first 5-days of practice and the first six Jacksonville practice sessions, Alualu said he's happy the business side was finally taken care of and that his holdout didn't have a very long shelf life.
"I didn't want to miss the first day of camp. I wanted to be here with my teammates. But like I said I just had to trust my agent and what he did."
His patience paid off. On Monday, Tyson agreed to a deal for 5-years $28-million, $17-million of it is guaranteed.
His much anticipated one-on-one showdown with fellow Hawaii boy Vince Manuwai, was put on the back burner by Jack Del Rio who wanted his new defensive lineman to get accustomed to his new surroundings. Instead both Kalihi native's will get at each other on Wednesday morning.
