PEARL CITY (HawaiiNewsNow) - Police are crediting the public's tips for helping them capture two young men accused of committing several thefts at Pearlridge Center.
Officers arrested Shandon Paulino, 22, and Russell Vierra, 19, on suspicion of theft and unlawful imprisonment. Police say the suspects posed as military officers, and told their teenaged victims that they were investigating a crime and needed to collect their personal belongings as evidence.
Crimestoppers received several calls after the story aired.
"Through the tips, we were able to locate and then through photo lineups and etc. we were able to bring witnesses in and some of the victims and they were able to make ID," Maj. Gregory Lefcourt, Honolulu Police Department, said.
Police say they can't comment on whether the suspects are members of the military.
